Request for laptops on a dootrip from Paris

Hello everyone. Dominik here from Lowanatom, Vanuatu (edoovillage # 16269). We have a traveler who is leaving from Paris June 22th and can carry 5 laptops to bring them to our school. We have also a contact person in Asnières sur Seine (northern Paris outskirts) who can keep the laptops for us before the trip happens. Are there any hubs who could donate laptops for this dootrip or suggest travelers who could drop them in Paris? The trip number is #000000688. Many thanks to all.

Hi Dominik,
last time hub Rhein-Ruhr sent laptops to a hotel in Paris. This is expensive, but there is no other way to help from here. If you cannot find another way to get laptops to the travelers, please send me a mail. Then we can discuss details.

In case you want the support of hub Rhein-Ruhr please prepare

  • add to each dootrip to "notes" address and contact data of the travelers. This is not shown on the web page, but editing the dootrip page will show the details. I have access, but if others want to see the details, you have to give their user name access to the dootrip.
  • Is there a way to cover the cost for sending vis DHL?

    • If the test with Lubuntu 18.04 LTS will be positive, those laptops will run under the latest version of Lubuntu, being released next week.

    Hello Ralf and many thanks for your reply. The trip is still a few weeks away so I hope there may be some travelers who could bring the laptops to Paris (from Spain?). If there are none, we will probably have to do it the way you propose with DHL. Could you give me an approximate cost of sending 5 laptops from your place to address nº 31, rue de Nanterre, Asnières-sur-Seine, France? This way I can ask our director if we could possibly cover it.

    Hi Dominik,

    a laptop weights ca. 3 kg/laptop. So 5 laptops = 15 kg plus box. The DHL prices for international deliveries are here https://www.dhl.de/en/privatkunden/preise/preise-international.html (up to 20 kg = 32 €)

    The address must be as exact a possible. Is it a hotel (hotel name, room no.)? If it is a hotel, is the desk informed? Is the name on the door bell (otherwise DHL will not even ring) and return the box to me? As some of this data is "privado" please do not post it public, but hide it in the dootrip, as recommended. Please mind the new European data protection regulation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation! Publishing private data in web may cause a penalty from May, 2018.

    Just let me know as early as possible, as now the most busiest time of the year is upcoming. Thanks.

    Hello Dominik,

    I'm also trying to confirm if we can have travelers and laptops from Barcelona, give me 2 weeks please and will let you know. Tecnico Eulalia school are sanitizing 13 laptops and they are also traveling to Paris by bus soon. I'm waiting for their confirmation.
