Hi,
I am trying to install Latix in an old laptop which does not boot from my new labtix USB, so i've been told i should create a bootable CD or DVD,
Is the labtix image already bootable?
If not, what program should i use to download the image into a bootable DVD?

Thanks guys!

Hi Elena,

Labtix is the installation TOOL and should be used to install a Labdoo image, not to be installed itself on a donated laptop ;) I guess your question is, if the Labtix tool (iso-file) http://ftp.labdoo.org/download/install-disk/Labtix.iso is bootable? This is explained in the wikis. You cannot use the iso-file at it is. You have to use another program to generate a bootable ISO-CD/DVD or USB-drive. See "Creating a bootable USB from the Labtix ISO" here https://www.labdoo.org/de/content/preparation-fast-installation-methods.

The Labdoo images are as uploaded archives not "bootable", but once installed using Labtix or any other tools the laptops have received the images are bootable.

I can only guess, which kind of problem you have. First, check if you generated an bootable media for Labtix as described in wiki. If so and still does not boot from the Labtix-media - Some laptops do not boot due to setting (e.g. in BIOS booting from external media is switched off: or BIOS is set to UEFI only etc.) or broken hardware (CD-drive too dirty or broken; USB-slot without power etc.). This is related to the used hardware and not to any Labdoo tool or image.

During Labdoo conference in Germany last year Labdoo (Germany) prepared bootable iso-CDs and USB-drives for Labtix (still some left, ca. 10 €). And we still have 1 TB USB-disc drives here to store Labdoo images for cloning (70 €). If you want, send me a mail and the address to send it to. Will tell you the cost including mail costs and how to cover. But everything is free in web, so just an offer.

Is there a local helper, who could give you some basic IT support (as your questions are very basic, not in details of Labdoo technique)? Have you checked out our video tutorials? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwjiFCupD7U&list=PLtGfy5_i_VB5PJYj9yViif...

I hope I could give you some support.

HI Ralf,
The problem is that the laptop is old and does not read the bootable usb i had prepared to start labtix.
So, should I use SpaceFM to generate a bootable DVD?
Thanks a lot

Hi Elena,
Go to https://www.labdoo.org/content/preparation-fast-installation-methods, scroll down to the the head line "Creating a bootable USB or CD/DVD from the Labtix ISO" The tools described there work for any media (CD, DVD or USB disc) and any operating system (Windows, iOS, Linux). This is common IT knowledge.
Sorry, Labdoo cannot describe any basic detail in its wikis. We have to focus on Labdoo specific information and are not able to give general computer lessons.
