Edoovillage #2998 - Kenya, Lamu: Shamba la Shela School – Under Pamoja Initiative

Shamba la shela is a private school under Pamoja Initiative (www.pamoja.co) a non for profit organization. It is located in Shela Lamu on the Kenya coast. We have 60 students of which 60% do not pay school fees,7 teachers, a swimming instructor and a sports instructor. It's the only school in the entire Lamu County with a swimming pool, playground, music instruments and embraces diversity by giving a chance and hope to children who would otherwise have none.
Pamoja focuses on addressing challenges on socioeconomic, gender inclusivity and holistic wellness through cross-cutting themes in education, sport and environmental intervention. Our inputs are through Shamba la shela school that offers education to marginalized children, we have 2 swimming pools that offer free swimming classes and engage with communities to address issues around waste management and conservation.
Computer literacy is a vital skill that needs to be nurtured and enhanced at an early age in order for children to develop communication skills and to prepare them to be functional in the 21st century. The laptops will be instrumental in achieving our goal of engaging, equipping and uplifting the wellbeing of marginalized children through quality education.
