1.  Project Summary:
Das vor 10 Jahren farbenfroh gestaltete Gebäude, der sog. Computainer,  steht in der Grünanlage Stakenholt in Essen-Vogelheim. Im Vogelheimer Computainer finden Bürgerinnen eine Vielzahl kostengünstiger oder kostenfreier Bildungs-, Beratungs- und Begegnungsangebote. Nicht nur Kurse, die Kindern und Jugendlichen beim richtigen Umgang mit dem Computer auf die Sprünge helfen, sondern auch Angebote zur Elternbildung und Hausaufgabenhilfe aber auch spezielle Förderangebote wie Einzelnachhilfe für Kinder und  Jugendliche, machen den Computainer zu einem Zentrum mit einem breiten Bildungsangebot im Essener Norden. Ebenfalls werden Medienkompetenz-Projekte mit den anliegenden Schulen durchgeführt. Durch die räumliche Nähe zur Gesamtschule Nord ist der Computainer ein Ort für Begegnung, der beispielsweise auch die Möglichkeit zum Bewerbungstraining bietet, oder in den Ferien sozialräumliche Kinderbildungsprogramme, wie Kindercomputerkurse zur Verfügung stellt. Täglich steht Kindern und Jugendlichen eine kostenfreie Internetnutzung zur Verfügung.

10 years ago the brightly colored buildings, the so-called Computainer, was set up at the green area Stakenholt in Essen-Vogelheim. In Vogelheimer Computainer citizens find a free (or at least cheaper) education, counseling and meeting services. Not only courses that help children and young people to use a computer in a correct way, are offered but also education for parents and homework help. Special support services, such as tutoring for children and young people, make the Computainer a center with a broad education in the north of Essen. Also media literacy projects are carried out with the annexed schools. 
The close proximity to the North Computainer comprehensive school is a place for encounter, for example, also offers the opportunity for application training, or during the holidays socio-spatial children education programs, such as child computer courses provides. Every day children and young people have access to a free internet use.

Dear Laptop receiver:

We are very pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to your project by providing technology to help bridge the digital divide. With every right comes responsibilities. Technology, when adequately used, can provide very powerful means to aid those that are most in need. But if used improperly, it can also damage our environment. By receiving the above items, you are automatically accepting to abide by the following Labdoo global responsibilities:

(1) The items received will be used only for the purpose described by your organization at the time you solicited this donation. 
If you intend to use it for a different purpose, you will contact first the Labdoo team at contact@labdoo.org.
(2) In the case that an incidence occurs to any of the received items, you will contact the Labdoo team at contact@labdoo.org, 
including in your email the tagging number of the item(s) related to the incidence and a brief explanation. The following 
incidences must always be reported:
	(2.1) At the end of life of any of the received items, so that the item can be properly recycled. 
	(2.2) When an item breaks, malfunctions or any change in its status.
(3) Every six months, please send an email to contact@labdoo.org with the list of laptops that you have and their status (working or not working).
