What's new in Labtix 2.09
Labtix 2.09 is now available. In recent years, Labtix has become the most widely used installation tool in the Labdoo project worldwide and is very popular.
In line with this, Labdoo (Germany) has been providing ready-made images for cloning on the FTP server in various languages and content for years. And here a bottleneck has arisen. Thousands of helpers are now downloading the freely available, free images from the FTP server. The infrastructure and bandwidth kindly provided free of charge by the hoster in Barcelona is shared by more and more users and this leads to slow, longer downloads :( But at the same time we want to offer schools and pupils the best possible solution with a lot of offline content.
Therefore we have optimized our concept. 2.09 can now handle both "ready" images with pre-installed content as before, but also the new BASIC images without content. More on that later.
With Labtix 2.09 "finished" images will disappear from the FTP server. From now on, please use the small BASIC images and then "build" the images with additional content.
The big advantage:
There is now only one small BASIC image of approx. 15 GB per language (currently these are DE, EN, ES, FR, UK), which drastically reduces the upload and download volume. So far, all images together have been around 500 GB...
What does this mean?
There are now control files that tell Labtix what content to install where. This affects the Kiwix and browser-based archives that were previously part of the "ready-to-use" images.
This additional feature has even more advantages. For example, you can create your own control files and quickly exchange them with each other.
And there is a new item “Poweroff After Installation”. This is how you can save energy

Technical notes:
Control files must always be located locally "near" the folders with Kiwx and others, i.e. on a local USB disk or local server. Only local content on USB disks or local servers is supported. Remote servers over the Internet are deliberately not supported.
The control files need a certain syntax. Please follow the examples (blank lines between comments and content; #### before headings etc.).

Neuerungen in Labtix 2.09
Ab sofort steht Labtix 2.09 zur Verfügung. Labtix hat sich in den letzten Jahren zum weltweit am meisten eingesetzten Installationstool im Labdoo-Projekt entwickelt und erfreut sich großer Beliebtheit.
Passend dazu stellt Labdoo (Deutschland) seit Jahren in verschiedenen Sprachen und Inhalten vor-konfektionierte "fertige" Images for Cloning auf dem FTP-Server bereit. Und hier ist ein Engpass entstanden. Tausende von HelferInnen laden inzwischen die frei verfügbaren, kostenlosen Images vom FTP-Server herunter. Die freundlicherweise vom Hoster in Barcelona kostenlos bereit gestellte Infrastruktur und Bandbreite teilen sich immer mehr User und das führt zu langsamen, längeren Downloads :( Aber gleichzeitig möchten wir den Schulen und SchülerInnen die bestmögliche Lösung bieten, mit möglichst vielen Lerninhalten.
Daher haben wir unser Konzept optimiert. 2.09 kann jetzt sowohl "fertige" Images mit vorinstalliertem Content wie bisher handhaben, aber auch die neuen BASIC-Images ohne Content. Dazu später mehr.
Mit Labtix 2.09 verschwinden "fertige" Images vom FTP-Server. Bitte nutzt ab sofort die kleinen BASIC-Images und "baut" euch dann die Images mit zusätzlichem Content.

Es gibt jetzt nur noch je Sprache ein kleines BASIC-Image a ca. 15 GB (aktuell sind dies DE, EN,ES, FR, UK), was das Up- und Download-Volumen drastisch reduziert. Bisher umfassten alle Images zusammen um die 500 GB...
Was bedeutet das?
Es gibt jetzt Steuerdateien, die Labtix mitteilen, welcher Content wohin zu installieren ist. Dies betrifft die Kiwix und Browser-basierten Archive, die bislang schon Bestandteil der "fertigen" Images waren.
Dieses zusätzliche Feature hat noch weitere Vorteile. Ihr könnt z.B. eigene Steuerdateien erstellen und schnell untereinander tauschen.
Und es gibt einen neuen Punkt „Poweroff After Installation“. So könnt ihr Energie sparen.

Technische Hinweise:
Steuerdateien müssen immer lokal "in der Nähe" der Ordner mit Kiwx u.a. liegen, d.h. auf einer lokalen USB-Platte oder lokalem Server. Es werden nur lokale Inhalte auf USB-Festplatten oder lokalen Servern unterstützt. Remote-Server über das Internet werden bewusst nicht unterstützt.
Die Steuerdateien benötigen eine bestimmte Syntax. Bitte orientiert euch an den Beispielen (Leerzeilen zwischen Kommentaren und Inhalt; #### vor Überschriften etc.).
