Classrooms in the Clouds Nepal has been supporting the underprivileged government schools and schools with motive to support the underprivileged children in the remote part of Solukhumbu. Most of its schools are located in the Solu region of Solukhumbu, which hides in the Shadow of the tourist benefitted and economically developing Khumbu region (Everest trekking region). Most of the schools that Classrooms in the Clouds work with are least accessible by roads and communication. On top of that the schools lack sufficient educational resources, quality teachers and physical infrastructures to attract the village children to continue their education in the village, which leads to problem of migration of children to cities for better education, inferior educational achievement, lack of interest of parents towards education etc. Classrooms in the Clouds Nepal has been working in some of the schools with similar situation to help them enhance their education quality by working hand in hand with the schools. Classrooms in the Clouds helps schools by building good quality new classrooms, sponsoring qualified teachers, supporting teacher training and encouraging the employment of female teachers. In order to enhance the education quality of the schools Classrooms in the Clouds also collaborates with other organizations to multiply the support provided to the schools in order to achieve better results with combined team effort.
The laptops provided will be used at the schools in the remote regions of Solukhumbu. Most of the schools in the remote regions of Nepal lack the introduction of technology in the classrooms. Teachers
use the textbooks as only resource to teach the students. If the schools have laptops, they can use it for the school’s computer lab, administrative purpose, library, and teaching tool in the classrooms.
Laptop can be the magic box that can play vital role in fulfilling the educational needs of the schools in the villages. Computer courses are introduced in the curriculum but not all schools are provided with the computer resources. The laptops can fulfill the need of computers at those schools. Many schools lack teaching resources and enough books for teaching. The laptops can store enough teaching resources for the schools, which can last for years. It can serve as the best audiovisual device at the school. Laptops can also serve the library need and the administrative need of the school. Not all the villages are beneficial of electricity all the time; in such case the desktop computers aren’t always beneficial. Laptops can best serve the need of the schools in such times.
