Hello,
During the first phases of project Labdoo we've focused primarily on the problem of efficiently collecting, sanitizing and moving unused laptops. As this part of the project becomes step by step more robust, we would like to start focusing on the problem of providing better support to the schools receiving the laptops and tablets. So far we have developed some features that do focus on...
As requested by some Labdoo hubs, due to a talk to the developers of MATE desktop at UbuCon in Germany and after internal testings and discussions we can offer you an improved user concept for Labdoo computers. Beside the LXDE desktop (the Lubuntu user interface), which you know already, we added the MATE desktop and made it the default desktop. a href...
Due to needs in projects for blind or visually impaired users the Labdoo team Germany invested much time in investigation and setting up new and improved solutions for handicapped users. The work will still be ongoing during November, but we want to inform you about the work done and what you can expect soon.

This weekend i will be doing some maintenance system updates to the Labdoo.org platform/software. It should not disturb you (hopefully) as the updates can be done with minimal disruption time, but if you happen to see the system off for a short while, it will be due to these updates. I am going to choose a time zone that has minimal traffic too.
Thanks.
As times are changing, we should as well update our minimum requirements of donated laptops. Actually we ask for at least Pentium IV (4) CPUs. Linux is well known for supporting older computers, but release by release (L)Ubuntu needs more RAM and CPU power.
So we recommend to drop Pentium 4 CPUs (end of 2001) and use min. Pentium M (mobile) CPUs (2003 ff.). Min. RAM of 512 MB, better 756 MB...

Hello everyone,
One feature that has been lacking behind is a proper way to quickly search useful content within the Labdoo platform. We did have a search box in certain places but its features were limited.
Recently i have implemented a search box that is a bit richer in its functionalities. You will now find it in almost all the pages.
The new search box:
- Provides automatic...
Hi Wendy, during the meeting in Barcelona I will ask other helpers, if they know a way to visualize the user using LXDE desktop. Actually I found no solution to show if user labdoo or student is logged in.
So one idea is to use the wonderful wallpapers you designed (still 01 is my favourite) and to add "user: labdoo" and "user: student" in the text shown in the wallpaper. Then I can pre-set...

Hello,
We are starting a new project in Vilafranca to help provide laptops for people that have some disability. This is the project:

Some of you have been working to enable special education software for people that have some disability (i believe Wendy and Ralf have worked in such projects before, and maybe others too)....
