Desde Foundawtion queremos agradeceros vuestra generosa aportación de ordenadores para la comunidad senegalesa de Thionck-Essyl.

El día 20 de junio entregamos en vuestro nombre al director del Lycée Monsieur Aimée, los ordenadores portátiles que nos habíais cedido y que mejorarán los medios de que ahora dispone, el aula informática de este centro.

No es nuestra proyecto, pero en el Lycée de Thionk Essyl (estudios superiores tipo bachillerato) no tienen ordenadores y nos pidieron que si les podíamos llevar algunos. Pensamos que, aunque no sean para nuestra escuela, el fin es el mismo. Les llevamos los siete que nos entregasteis vosotros y uno más de otra empresa que nos lo cedió.

En 2014 el estudio de arquitectura daw crea Foundawtion. Una organización sin ánimo de lucro para impulsar y llevar a cabo proyectos que cubran necesidades arquitectónicas que obedecen a problemas reales de las personas, las comunidades y las concentraciones urbanas, en zonas económicamente desfavorecidas, para contribuir a la transformación social y al desarrollo.

Foundawtion mantiene un estrecho contacto con la comunidad senegalesa de Thionck Essyl desde el año 2014. Trabajando directamente sobre el terreno en esta población hemos detectado la precariedad de las infraestructuras educativas actuales y la imperiosa necesidad en la mejora de la educación de esta parte del mundo.

Hemos establecido un acuerdo bilateral con las autoridades y la comunidad para levantar una escuela secundaria que acogerá a unos quinientos alumnos.

Pero el proyecto HAGAMOS ESCUELA es más que un edificio. Queremos que el proceso constructivo sea una labor de formación que ayude a la comunidad en sus futuras construcciones.

Nuestros esfuerzos y nuestro tiempo van dirigidos a conseguir este reto. HAGAMOS ESCUELA es además un signo y una marca, que llama a la colaboración a una de las causas más nobles en las que se fundamenta el humanismo: transmitir y compartir conocimiento, impulsar valores y educar en ellos.

Story

The motto of the construction project, which began in 2016 and was completed in 2020, was "Let's make a school", an expression that brings together the values of the project: building a school that would in turn serve as a school for the masons, carpenters, electricians, plumbers and other professionals involved in the project. "Faisons école" is a call for collaboration in one of the noblest causes on which humanism is founded: passing on and sharing knowledge, promoting values and educating in accordance with these values.

In June 2016, a prototype classroom was built, which served as a test for the sustainable design of the vaults of all the classrooms; in total, 21 single classrooms, a double room for the library and another for extracurricular activities were built, as well as toilets, changing rooms and another building for administrative use. The rooms in each classroom are built around the original location of a tree. The main material used to build the vaults came from the same land, and its extraction was used to create sports facilities for football, basketball and athletics, as well as a vegetable garden for the pupils. The whole complex is enclosed by a perimeter fence that demarcates the nearly 2 hectares of college grounds.
We had planned to tie up the loose ends and complete the work in spring 2020. Unfortunately, in mid-March, classes were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The work had to be interrupted and the volunteers had to return home, which delayed the end of the project. In November 2020, we were able to resume work and complete the final details in the first half of 2021.
