The "Wajukuu Maker Space" project, initiated by the renowned artist collective Wajukuu Arts Project, aims to offer new perspectives and income opportunities to young people in the Lunga Lunga slum in Nairobi. The plan is to establish a Maker Space that provides access to tools and equipment for woodworking, photography, and computer workstations. The space, accessible to all residents of Lunga Lunga for a small fee, will eventually be self-sustaining and offer not only material resources but also educational programs. Special courses will teach skills in craftsmanship, artistic design, and business development. The project addresses widespread poverty, the lack of income opportunities and education, and offers an alternative to the often-trodden paths of crime and drug addiction. The goal is to give young people the opportunity to lead self-determined lives and use their creative potential to earn a living and contribute to the development of their community.

Das "Wajukuu Maker Space"-Projekt, initiiert vom renommierten Künstlerkollektiv Wajukuu Arts Project, zielt darauf ab, jungen Menschen im Lunga Lunga Slum in Nairobi neue Perspektiven und Verdienstmöglichkeiten zu bieten. Geplant ist die Einrichtung eines Maker Spaces, der Zugang zu Werkzeugen und Equipment für Holzverarbeitung, Fotografie, Computerarbeitsplätzen bereitstellt. Der Raum, zugänglich für alle Bewohner von Lunga Lunga gegen eine geringe Miete, wird zukünftig autark betrieben und bietet nicht nur materielle Ressourcen, sondern auch Bildungsangebote. Spezielle Kurse vermitteln handwerkliche Fähigkeiten, künstlerisches Design und Geschäftsaufbau.
