The school, Seminar Chasidi, is three years old, but it was founded by an Israeli non-profit, Yaldei
Tsfat (Children of Tsfat) that has successfully opened an elementary and middle school with over
350 students, a special education pre-school and school and a day care center for working
mothers.
The majority of the students in the high school come from low -income homes and the far majority
do not have computer or computer access at home.
The school recognizes that in today's world every student must have computer skills to succeed in
the workplace.
In the Orthodox school framework the students usually graduate high school with completion of
courses that can lead them towards a job. Other schools in the area offer sewing or to be an
assistant daycare teacher as the course options.
Here is the innovation at Seminar Chasidi. They want all students to graduate with a certificate of
completion in computer design or bookkeeping/office management (which are both widely
accepted at workplaces in Israel). Their goal is that every student can be gainfully employed
immediately after graduating or they can have the skills and completed matriculation exams to
continue on to higher education.
Obviously to fulfill these goals the school needs computers on which to teach the students these
programs. :) That's where we are hoping you can help!
The staff who are teaching these courses are already trained in these fields and have computer
mastery in the needed programs.
The computer support person who already works with the elementary school will be in charge of
setting up the computer lab.
