"I am not sure any-more that the German, English etc. mail texts are good. The e-mail receivers are often from several countries, talking several languages. I know you invested much time in localizing the mail text. But please think also about it. I do not know a good alternative, maybe to have a mail in ALL languages in one mail. But even if we shorten the text to 1-2 sentences per language it will be long. Or we can add a link at the end of a mail "if you want to see this mail in English, ... please click here". Now an English talking edoovillage contacts a project partner or me and we explain what is meant by this mail. It is not an urgent need, just to raise it and maybe you have a good idea. Thanks."
Proposed solution:
(1) The default language that goes in the email is set to English.
(2) At the end of the email we include a list of links in all the
other supported languages like this:
- Si quieres ver este email en Espanyol, aprieta aqui.
- Wenn Sie diese E-Mail auf Deutsch sehen möchten, klicken Sie hier
- Si vols veure aquest email en Catala, apreta aqui
- 如果你想看到这封邮件,在德国,请点击这里
(etc)
Each of the above links takes the user to a page in labdoo.org where
we keep the various translations. There is a nice way i can implement
the above automatically, so there is no need to create new pages... it
is a template page, that i pass a certain set of inputs, and then it
automatically will generate the translation based on the templates. So
from an architecture perspective, this should scale up and should also
be very fast.
