As requested by some Labdoo hubs, due to a talk to the developers of MATE desktop at UbuCon in Germany and after internal testings and discussions we can offer you an improved user concept for Labdoo computers. Beside the LXDE desktop (the Lubuntu user interface), which you know already, we added the MATE desktop and made it the default desktop. a href="http://lxde.org/">LXDE is still available as part of the images and a user can switch back to LXDE, if needed.
LXDE is fast, but does not offer the functionality of MATE. MATE e.g. comes with a welcome application / guided tour, comes with many useful features and is also fast, even asking for a little bit more hardware resources. So you have the best bread of the (L)Ubuntu community :)
Please note that we did NOT use Ubuntu + MATE, but still Lubuntu + MATE. So we need as less hardware resources as possible. Also all images http://ftp.labdoo.org/download/images/ were build from the scratch using Lubuntu 16.04.1. In 16.04.0 there were some problems with specific hardware, which were solved in 16.04.1.
The English and German wikis and pdf manuals were already updated, other languages might follow, if you translate them.
