Hello,

We have added a new feature to the Labdoo platform that allows for the automatic checking/discovery of broken links in any of our online pages and documents. This is important in that as our content (specially our wiki pages) are often modified, sometimes this leads to outdated/broken links (resulting in 'page not found' errors). This new feature (called 'broken links') will help you discover any broken links and provide a simple interface to help you fix them.

This feature is primarily for those of you who write Labdoo wiki pages. To know how it works, please read this helper page: https://www.labdoo.org/content/detecting-and-correcting-broken-links

If you have written any wiki pages, please do make sure to use this feature to help you correct any broken links that any of your pages may have.

Thank you for helping to keep the Labdoo content as correct and up to date as possible.

Hi Jordi,

can you please add some information about the cron job and the underlying schedule? It would be interesting to know how often the tool scans the links. E.g. once a link was corrected, when will it be removed from the list of broken links. Or since a few days there are 200 unchecked links of about 900 links. When will they be checked. so a review makes sense. Not to hurry, but to get an impression for a wiki writer how many days(?) later it makes sense to check again?

Thanks,
Ralf

A description on how and when the links are checked was added: https://www.labdoo.org/content/detecting-and-correcting-broken-links

Notice that the first time it needs to scan the whole Labdoo platform, so it can take a few days/weeks to complete, since this is done progressively, but this is only done once. Right now there are only 104 links left to be checked so the counter continues to go down. Once all the links are checked, then things will be faster as the system can detect the new links of pages that are created or modified upon saving them. Read the explanation added to the wiki page above to see when the checkings are carried out.

Hello everyone, to all of you who are involved in writing Labdoo Wiki pages, could you please check the list of broken links of type "404" and help fix them? we just learned that Google puts a negative penalty on websites that have broken links and so making sure we have no broken links is important to ensure the Google search engine will positively consider Labdoo when people are searching the web. Thank you.

Here is the list of broken links (you only need to help correct those that have code "404 Not Found"): https://www.labdoo.org/admin/reports/linkchecker?sort=desc&order=Response

For any questions, don't hesitate to ask. (Remember that this wiki page explains how to correct broken links: https://www.labdoo.org/content/detecting-and-correcting-broken-links)

Just two clarifications, only if you have wiki edit rights you will be able to access the dashboard with the broken links (https://www.labdoo.org/admin/reports/linkchecker?sort=desc&order=Response). Otherwise you will get an "Access denied" message.

Also, you can access the wiki pages that have broken links and which were created by your user by going to "My account" => "My broken links". This will give you a reduced list of broken wiki pages that were only created by you. You should fix all the 404 types in this list, thank you.
