Hi Ralf and Frank,
We have a new project in India and I saw you have already delivered many laptops to schools in India. Our traveler is asking if you know the number limitation of laptops each traveler can carry?
Thanks,
Wendy

Hi Wendy,
Hi Wendy,
they should follow the usual Labdoo rule, take 1 or 2, max. 3 laptops per person, not too many laptops. Brazil and India are the most difficult countries to bring laptops to. Some countries ask for 35% import tax on the market prize, when the laptop was brought into the market (even if as used part the laptop prize is now much less). It is really hard to tell in advance how a custom officer will act. Good luck.
Ralf
Hello altogether
Hello altogether
I agree with Ralf's statement. Our experience is that 2 laptops max per person is not a challenge.
Some teachers claimed that one laptop is their own and the other one is for teaching children - that way we never had problems with customs.
Cheers, Frank
Hi Frank and Ralf,

100% agree. For India, do not
100% agree. For India, do not carry more than 2 laptops per person. We had one instance from hubs in Barcelona that working with Aviations without Fronteers they did not allow us to enter laptops. This was a project in collaboration with people from UN in Delhi, not even them could try to persuade customs that the laptops were for education reasons.
Also, have them bring the offficial labdoo letter, most likely not needed but in the case of India it is recommended: https://www.labdoo.org/content/dootrippers-travel-letter
Hi Jordi,
Hi Jordi,
Thank you for your input. It's very valuable to learn.
Can you please find out in more detail on what's happening? Was it because they carried more than 2 laptops? Did only laptops get taken away, or there are other goods as well? Did any person who carry 2 laptops from your hub get into the same troubles? There's no nice customs in the countries which need used laptop resources:)lol:) but .. it will be extremely helpful if we can accumulate the experience in a good way, instead of discourage our travelers with negative inputs.
Maybe compose a countries spreadsheet with the laptop experience will help? I will take the action item and put up a google doc. if you think it's a good idea.
Thanks,
Wendy

It seems they are more strict to foreigners.
Yes, the issue in that
Yes, the issue in that instance was because the travelers were carrying more than two laptops per person. On the other hand, we had plenty of travelers going to India from Barcelona who carried two laptops and never had any issues. So 100% success was achieved when the travelers carried two laptops only. For others that may not know, this page in our wiki explains the best recommendations when traveling: https://www.labdoo.org/content/transport-customs-and-dootripper-letter
