Unlock Edu is a sustainable library center. Through its technological resources, student-learners are able to supplement their school curriculums while building literacy skills that support educational advancement. In short, Unlock Edu bridges educational gaps, providing resources to underserved communities and providing avenues to create a more robust learning environment. Through Unlock Edu, children are supported in their discovery and mastery of digital tools.
Many rural schools in Ghana are underresourced and lack adequate facilities. They also lack teaching staff and learning materials. Consequently, the well-staffed and resource rich Unlock Edu library center is an invaluable partner to local schools and families.
The library employs permanent staff and benefits from international volunteers who monitor and evaluate student progress. These core partners assist student-learners with meeting the curriculum standards at their local schools and advancing their higher educational goals.
Unlock Edu is the flagship educational project of the West Africa Volunteer Project of Humanity (WAVPH). WAVPH seeks to create vibrant local communities with appropriate development initiatives to achieve access to quality education, empower women and children, promote agricultural development, advance human rights and achieve quality health in underserved communities in the West African Sub-Region.
Through WAVPH, volunteers mentor student-learners in a hybrid system which allows for participation not only from the volunteers’ home countries, but also in-person, at the center itself. Their participation and the educational attainment which results aids in the transformation of lives and communities.
