Computer Training Centre for rural young single Mothers in Habitat community-Kamaiba Kasese District.
Philomena United Women Art and Craft Group is taking an initiative for providing a computer education for young single mothers of the society who don’t know even the meaning and purpose of computer. How can they be prosperous in life when computer is used in almost every field of life? For this reason Philomena has visited many thickly populated and backward areas of Kasese and found hundreds of women/ girls without a computer education/ knowledge or has no access to education due to the locally tradition where by the male child is first educated and the female child is left to either get prepared for marriage or thought of after, yet education is the basic right of humanity. So Philomena has taken this initiative to provide a platform to such women/ young girls so that they can have at least basic computer education training and at least they can be able to interact with computer and know its functions and different uses and be prosperous in life. Although there are many IT/Computer centers in the city but due to high fees charged, rural poor young girls/women are unable to give such education to them and most schools have no computer literacy/training for young girls and the schools that have such modern facilities are out of reach of such poor and depressed people.
And our major project goal is to contribute towards the educational development of young girls and to acquaint them with modern world through modern technology and knowledge and make them enable to become prosperous in life.
