For our school project, new media and specially learning with computer and using the skills are very necessary. First of all the „managing women“ of the projects have to understand and learn to work with computer, use the advantages (the door to new media, learning skills and so on) and also to use it for the school and the Learning Center. For the children and the young women it is a window to connect to the world, to learn, to improve, to study in a playful way. For them it will be a great tool to integrate into their study and learning program.
Short description of project’s sustainability:
The project has been funded with minimal resources since 2001. Volunteering and the commitment of individuals have guaranteed the project’s growth and will continue to do so in the future. Financial support from different foundations have provided us with the opportunity, now in the project’s 4th stage to further develop the structures of the Learning Centers, set up in the previous, 3rd stage. Concrete investment would be placed in educational materials, infrastructure, furnishings, extension of the sewing workshop and the introduction of an additional workshop with industrial sewing machines in Nuweiba. These investments will secure long-term initiatives. Another important aspect of the sustainability program is investing in education and training for our female, local project leaders. “Helping people to help themselves” is our motto; so the trained women can eventually pass on their knowledge independently.
