Due to the Covid-19 outbreak that has greatly affected the globe, school going children and adults have been affected too following the closure of all learning institutions. Students from the rich families are accessing learning materials online using computers, tablets and smartphones while those from poor families are just doing domestic work while others are playing from morning to sunset. This has left a very big gap between the learners from rich families and those from the poor ones. Therefore, learners with a poor background have been deprived their rights to education. To close the existing gap, RAJEO started allowing finalist students (candidate) to access computer services at the office where they are given amble time to make educational research in various subjects. We allow Ordinary Level (O?Level), Advanced Level (A?Level) and those from institutions like certificate holders, diplomas, bachelors and masters levels. The number of people seeking our services is increasing since learners from other classes who are not finalists are demanding for the services. More so, some learners lack technical skills in computer Applications. This has forced us to train some of them the basics in computer applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and the Internet. Due to the increase in demand for computer services, we seek to expand our resources to accommodate the large number of learners and this is the reason to why we are seeking for support of 30 laptops from Labdoo.
Our goal is to avail students with a platform to access education services as schools are still closed until further notice.
The Laptops acquired from Labdoo shall be installed at RAJEO offices where students shall be using them FREELY for revising and making education research. Those that have less knowledge on using computer, RAJEO shall be conducting trainings in Computer Application Software like Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Database and the Internet. Other community members shall also be allowed to access services at the facility. However, these shall be paying a small fee to enable us repair and service the laptops as a modality for Project Sustainability.
In total, we currently have 47 people accessing the facility. 13 of these are being trained in Computer Applications while 34 come in for their revision and education research. We have 2 teachers who are well conversant with computer knowledge and are part of the Board of the Directors and are acting as volunteers in this project implementation.
Our volunteer teachers are well conversant with computer skills. However, refresher trainings may be organized as need may arise in the future.
A small fee shall be levied on the community beneficiaries who shall be accessing the facility.
This fee shall always enable us repair, service and maintain the laptops. These laptops shall remain property of RAJEO and shall never leave office premises whatsoever. The place the laptops are to put is weather proof. These precautions in place guarantee the safety of the laptops.
