企劃介紹:

The Everybody Matters Foundation is an initiative based in Gomoa Manso which seeks to
improve quality education in smaller Ghanaian communities by embarking on projects that
addresses challenges that affect educational outcomes. Since the start of our work in 2019, we’ve
worked tirelessly to help bridge the gap in educational provisions made for students in bigger
cities compared to those in smaller communities. This includes creating a learning space at
Gomoa Manso, forming STEM and Literacy clubs where educative and fun activities are run for
students outside the classroom walls and donating computer sets with internet connection to this
community as well. We believe that education done right is a great step towards community
development and positive change and to be able to read and write is a basic human right that
every child no matter their race or where they find themselves must acquire. We recently
graduated our first badge of students from junior high in gomoa manso and we look forward to
expanding our reach to provide access to basic education for students in rural Ghana.
For this reason, we have targeted two extra communities Kasoa and Aburi Amanfo, our next stop
for impact. Students in these two communities lack basic literacy and numeracy skills and have
limited books which reduces the quality of instructions provided by their tutors. There is little
motivation and most students drop out of school as early as in primary school. There is no access
to any technological advancement and students that get to graduate from high school, go through
it without having to chance on any technological device.
Our goal for this project is to first create an environment that captures the interest of students in
these communities which will help increase enrollment. In this environment, we will create
STEM and literacy clubs to run fun based educational activities so as to sustain their interest.
Educational materials including visual presentations of concepts taught in class will be installed
on the laptops to aid in their studies. Reading clinics which will involve the use of jolly phonics
installed on the laptops will be organized to teach students how to read as most of the students
we interacted with from these communities are unable to read.
We have perhaps come this far in our academics because we had the chance to go out of our
communities to access opportunities out there. We cannot take every child out of their
communities, thus, the need to bring these resources to them is a right call.
In Kasoa, we have 178 students (93 girls and 85 boys) and 10 teachers whereas in Aburi Amanfo
we have 95 students (55 girls and 40 boys) and 8 teachers. We also have a volunteer team of 14
supporting this initiative.
Prior to the donation of the devices, workshops will be organized for the teachers and volunteers.
This will include equipping them with the basic IT skills needed to run the project and computer
maintenance. This will be done periodically to meet up with current needs and development and
will be facilitated by software technology agency, a tech agency that has been volunteering with
us since 2021. A committee will be created consisting of local key stakeholders in these
communities and will be responsible for coordinating the use of these laptops and help sustain it.

Laptop covers will be provided for all laptops and they will be secured in cabinets and there will
be periodic inspection of the laptops as well.
